There is nothing more frustrating than a SIG Blomax line grinding to a halt because a few lamps decided to quit. It kills your rhythm and tanks your numbers. Usually, when these tubes blow out too early, it’s because they just can’t handle the heat or the physical stress of the machine. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built a replacement lamp that actually holds up. The Heat Struggle Our lamps are designed to slide right into Sidel-spec systems without any fuss. But here is the thing: you have to be careful with your power. Some people try to crank up the wattage to make up for old, tired heaters. Don’t do that. If you push a lamp past its limit, you’ll overheat the quartz. Then it starts to bow, crack, and eventually, it’s gone. Plus, keep an eye on your voltage. A sudden spike is the fastest way to snap a filament. Built a Bit Tougher Standard lamps tend to sag when things get hot. When they warp, the infrared heat doesn’t hit the PET preform where it’s supposed to, and you end up with uneven heating. To fix this, we used a heavier quartz wall. It keeps its shape, period. We also used high-purity quartz so the IR light gets through without any struggle. And the best part? The connectors fit the footprint you already have. You don’t have to touch your wiring or spend hours tinkering with the oven. Just swap them and go. The Honest Truth Nothing is perfect. Because these lamps are beefier, they hold onto heat a bit longer. You’ll notice they take a little more time to cool down when the machine is idling. It’s a small price to pay for a lamp that doesn’t die every few weeks. One last tip: keep them clean. If oil or PET residue builds up on the glass, it creates “hot spots.” Those spots will chew a hole right through the quartz. If you don’t wipe them down regularly, these new tubes will burn out just as fast as the cheap ones.
