Getting the Heat Right
Heating a PET preform is a balancing act. You need it to hit that glass transition temperature perfectly—too cold and it won’t blow, too hot and you’re scorching the plastic. We’ve tuned these lamps for high-voltage setups to keep the heat steady across the whole tube. Because the wattage per millimeter is high, the preform walls heat up evenly. One quick tip: if you’re pushing these to the limit, check your oven’s ventilation. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, all that concentrated heat can put some real stress on them.
The Build Quality
We used heavy-wall quartz glass here. Why? Because thin glass bows when things get hot, and that’s a recipe for failure. We also use a halogen cycle. It stops the tungsten filament from evaporating too fast, which means you aren’t swapping out bulbs every few weeks. As for the fit, most of our units come with R7s or Sk15 connectors. They slide right into your existing sockets. You don’t have to touch the wiring. You just pull the burnt-out tube and slide the new one in.It’s that easy.
What This Means for Your Floor
The best part is that your machine settings don’t change. You still get the same shortwave IR penetration, so your cycle times stay fast. We’ve run these in 24/7 production environments, and they hold up. Just a heads-up: since these aren’t OEM, you have to be strict about the voltage. If you over-volt the filament, you’ll kill the lifespan of the lamp. Just stick to the specs on the nameplate and you’ll get the full service life out of them.
