
Stop Fighting Your PET Bottles: Getting the Heat Right
If you’re running KHS or SIG Blomax 4/6/8 machines, you know the frustration of uneven wall thickness. One minute everything is fine, and the next, your Bottles are warping or looking wonky. Usually, it comes down to the heat. Old lamps burn out, or someone tries to save a few bucks with cheap replacements that just can’t hold a steady temperature. When the heat field is off, your bottles pay the price. The only real fix is a lamp that actually matches the original thermal footprint of your machine. The nitty-gritty on heat and power Here’s the thing: these lamps are pushing a lot of wattage through a tiny quartz envelope. You can’t just “close enough” the specs. If the voltage and wattage don’t line up perfectly with your power supply, you’re looking at two bad options: your preforms stay too cold, or you’re replacing blown fuses all day. We use high-purity quartz because this stuff takes a beating. It has to survive constant heating and cooling without warping. We’ve focused the shortwave infrared emission to hit the PET resin directly, which means you get your heat faster. No wasted time. Fit and finish A loose connection is a nightmare. But a word of caution: if you decide to crank up the heat density to speed up your cycle times, keep an eye on your ventilation. More heat means more stress on your cooling blowers.
