Making Husky HyPET Heaters Actually Fit (Without the Headache)
Let’s be honest: trying to find infrared lamps that actually fit different PET blowing brands is usually a pain. Most people think you just need to match the length, but it’s more than that. If you want a lamp that works with 95% of the gear out there, you have to get the electrical load, the heat, and the plug points exactly right.
The Power Stuff
Most high-output PET ovens need a very specific balance of voltage and wattage. If it’s off, you either scorch the preform or you don’t hit that “glass transition” sweet spot. We went with a 400V, 2500W setup. Why? Because it gives you the punch needed for fast cycle times, especially in those aggressive Husky HyPET systems. The best part is that these are drop-in replacements. You won’t have to spend your afternoon rewiring control cabinets. One quick tip, though: when you push these lamps to the max, your cooling fans have to work harder. If your vents are clogged with dust, the lamps will burn out way faster. Keep them clean.
Quartz and Plugs
We use heavy-wall quartz glass. It’s tough. It doesn’t bow or warp when things get blistering hot. Inside, we use a halogen gas fill to keep the filament from evaporating too quickly, which means the lamp lasts longer. As for the ends, we stick to R7s and Sk15 standards. They’re the industry benchmarks for a reason. It means you aren’t hunting for some weird, proprietary adapter just to get the thing to turn on. We also coated the glass to shift the infrared spectrum. Instead of just searing the surface of the plastic, the heat actually sinks deep into the PET wall.
Out on the Shop Floor
These are built for the “emergency swap.” You know the drill: a tube burns out, the line stops, and the pressure is on. You just pull the old one, slide the new one into the socket, and lock it in. No tinkering with the lamp rack. We kept the tolerances tight on the length and pins so you don’t have to “force” the lamp into place. That’s huge, because forcing a quartz tube is the fastest way to crack it. With these, it just slides in. Easy.
